Michael J. Hayes Jr., CPA, CFP®, RICP®, CDFA

Michael J. Hayes Jr., CPA, CFP®, RICP®, CDFA™ is a Partner and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional with Community Financial Group and has over 17 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Mike joined AXA Advisors, LLC in 2006 and works with individual and business clients on creating, implementing and maintaining their financial strategies. He continues to broker through AXA Advisors, LLC to provide financial solutions for his clients.

He has been distinguished in the financial services industry by attaining the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional designation. The designation comes with extensive training in financial planning, estate planning, insurance, investments, employee benefits and retirement planning, as well as in the CFP Board’s Standards of Professional Conduct, which are rigorously enforced.

He has also achieved the Retirement Income Certified Professional® designation from the American College. The RICP® educational curricula is the most complete and comprehensive program available to professional financial advisors looking to help their clients create sustainable retirement income. From retirement portfolio techniques and mitigation of plan risks to the proper use of annuities, employer-sponsored benefits and determining the best Social Security claiming ages.

Mike is a Retirement Planning Specialist. A title awarded by AXA Advisors, based upon receipt of a Certificate in Retirement Planning from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. This title is awarded only to Financial Professionals with AXA Advisors, LLC who have completed the Wharton program and complete the required annual continuing education. Through his commitment to continuing education, he has successfully completed an advanced learning curriculum, focused on asset allocation and wealth management strategies, at The Faculty Club, Harvard University.

More recently he has achieved the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA) designation. With the number of divorces on the rise, he believes it is prudent to have a better understanding of this process to be of greater service to his clients and their families.

Mike is also a member of AXA Advisors, LLC Elite Producer Group. The Elite Producer Group is a division of AXA Advisors, LLC, which represents the top 8% of the company’s 5,000+ Financial Professionals. He is responsible for managing client relationships and providing advice to help our clients reach their financial goals.  His areas of concentration include financial planning, retirement planning and investment management.

Prior to becoming a Financial Professional, he worked for four years at Eastern Virginia Bankshares (EVB) as a Vice President & Corporate Controller. While at EVB, he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation and a certification in Bank Management from the University of Virginia. Before joining EVB he spent three years with Union Bankshares Corporation as a Senior Accountant. 

Mike grew up in Colonial Beach and is a graduate of Strayer University with Honors and holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting. He lives in King George County with his wife, Lisa and when he is not working or spending time with his family, he loves the outdoors and enjoys hunting and fishing. He is passionate about cooking and nearly went to Culinary school to be a Chef. While he is not a trained Chef, his cookies are the stuff of legend!

The Retirement Planning Specialist title is awarded by AXA Advisors, based upon the Financial Professional's (FP) receipt of a Certificate in Retirement Planning from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Christopher G. Fines, CFP®, RICP®

Christopher G. Fines, CFP®, RICP® is a Partner and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional with Community Financial Group and has over 17 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Chris joined AXA Advisors, LLC as a Financial Professional in 2003 and is responsible for helping our clients create, implement, and manage their financial strategies to help them reach their goals. Chris is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) which helps him keep up to date on the latest research and ideas in the financial planning industry.  Before joining AXA Advisors, LLC in 2003, Chris spent four years at Union Bank & Trust and its parent company, Union Bankshares (now Union Bank). During this time he worked in various areas of the bank’s financial services, including commercial loan credit analysis and marketing.

 Chris graduated from Mary Washington College in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration.  He lives in Spotsylvania County with his wife, Regina, and their four children Jillian, Amelia, Oliver, and Hattie.  His community activities include membership in the Rappahannock Rotary Club, Spotsylvania Educational Foundation Board, and the University of Mary Washington’s College of Business Advisory Board.  When he is not working or spending time with his family he enjoys exercising, golf, reading, and playing guitar.

Joshua M. Alloway

Josh is a Financial Professional with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial Group.

Josh joined AXA in 2011 to work with the Retirement Benefits Group, a specialized division of AXA Advisors, LLC, which focuses on government employees and the non-profit marketplace. In 2012 he earned the title of Retirement Benefits Specialist in Tax Sheltered Accounts. In 2014 Josh joined Community Financial Groups as an Associate. Josh is currently pursuing the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designation.

Josh married the love of his life, Kaye-Ann (KK) in July 2016 and now they live together in Richmond’s Fan district. Josh was born and raised in Eastern Pennsylvania and moved with his family to Richmond, VA in 2002. He Graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010 with a degree in Finance.  When he is not helping clients or working on his business, Josh enjoys time with Family (he has seven siblings), friends and volunteering with Hill City Church in Richmond.

James Amato

James Amato is a Financial Professional with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial

James joined the Community Financial Group team in 2014. He is focusing his efforts in the Retirement Benefits Group (RBG) division of AXA Advisors, which specializes in working with clients within the public school system and non-profit sector. Previously, Jay worked in the accounting department of EJF Capital, a hedge fund based out of Arlington, VA. At EJF, Jay was primarily responsible for preparing both the monthly and annual financial statements for the two billion dollar distressed debt portfolio.

Jay graduated from James Madison University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance. While at JMU he was a member of the Financial Management Association International. Outside of academics, Jay voluenteered his time with Young Life, a non-profit that primarily focuses on mentoring high school students. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outside whether it’s on the river in Richmond or traveling the world scuba diving. He currently resides in his hometown, Richmond, VA with his wife, Rachel.

William Mears

Will is a Financial Professional with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial Group.

Will joined AXA Advisors, LLC in 2015 to work in the Retirement Benefits Group (RBG), a specialized division of AXA Advisors, LLC, which focuses on serving the public school and non-profit marketplace.  Will joined Community Financial Group in 2016 as an associate.  Before joining AXA, Will worked in the nonprofit sector with an organization called ‘Young Life’, an organization where he mentored high school and middle school students.

Early in his career at AXA, Will was asked to speak at a nationwide training due to his early success in the industry.  He now does a monthly training for the Richmond branch of AXA to help new RBG associates who are just getting started.

Will was born and raised in Loudoun County, Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree in History and Political Science from Christopher Newport University. He now lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife Allison who is a High school Spanish teacher.  In their spare time Will and Allison enjoy exercising, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Amy Sgarlato 

Amy Sgarlato is the Director of Client Relationships with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial Group.

Amy joined Community Financial Group as a Client Specialist in April 2017, with over 13 years of experience in the financial services industry. Based in our Fredericksburg office, Amy works closely with both Michael J. Hayes Jr., CPA, CFP®, RICP®, CDFA® and Christopher G. Fines, CFP®, RICP® supervising all areas of client engagement.

 

Prior to joining Community Financial Group, Amy held the position of Business Manager at Sgarlato Financial Services. While serving in this position, she collaborated closely with the advisor on all aspects of client services and managed the operations of the office. During her tenure at Sgarlato Financial Services, Amy passed the Series 7 exam and earned her Virginia Insurance License.

 

Before entering the financial services industry, she worked for over five years with an international staffing firm in both Eugene, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington. During this time, Amy joined the organization as a Staffing Specialist before being promoted to Branch Manager. As the Branch Manager, she supervised a team of human resources professionals who connected a wide array of organizations with both full-time and temporary employees.

 

Amy began her career as a high school English teacher and she has enjoyed incorporating the skills she acquired as a teacher into her subsequent positions by hosting various training seminars for her employees and colleagues. 

 

Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she met her husband, Paul. They live in Downtown Fredericksburg with their son, Vincent.

Allana Moore

Allana Moore is the Client Relationship Manager with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial Group.

Allana Moore began serving Community Financial Group as an Administrative Assistant in 2013, and worked her way up to the position of Client Relationship Manager in 2014.  She has spent these past 5 years working closely with Michael Hayes Jr., and Christopher Fines to oversee day-to-day operations in the office, and ensure the satisfaction of our clients. 

Prior to joining the CFG team, her career actually began in the medical field as a Medical Receptionist for an Orthopedics office here in Fredericksburg. She was quickly promoted to an Orthopedic Surgeons Assistant & had the exciting opportunity to assist the Surgeon in pre-op and post-op care for their patients. She also earned her Casting Certificate for all extremities. Before her experience in Orthopedics, she also served a Medical Receptionist in a local Family Physicians' office.

Allana resides right here in Fredericksburg and when she’s not in the office, you’ll probably find her getting a workout in by chasing around her toddler! Allana is very passionate about inner health and well-being, and she spends much of her free time exercising, doing yoga, and trying out new vegetarian recipes.

Carol McClymonds

Carol McClymonds is the Client Services Specialist with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial Group.

As Client Services Specialist, Carol works closely with each advisor at Community Financial Group to ensure that both the short and long term needs of our clients are met. Prior to joining the CFG family, she worked for over 4 years at Coldwater Creek in Spotsylvania Towne Centre, where she was one of the location’s original hires in 2010!  She served their team as one of 3 Assistant Managers until the store closed its doors in the summer of 2014. Prior to Coldwater Creek, she worked in the Mortgage Industry as a Foreclosure Officer in Alabama and then as a Loan Processor for a local mortgage company here in Virginia. 

Carol is originally from Alabama, and she graduated from Bob Jones University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  She later moved here to Virginia where she met her husband, Steve, and they were married in the spring of 1995.  In December of 2002, they put down their roots here in Fredericksburg, and they now have 3 children, Justin, Alyssa, and Matthew.  They also recently welcomed in their daughter-in-law, Kori!  Carol enjoys cooking, loves the beach, is a roller-coaster-loving adrenaline junky, and cherishes time spent with her family.

Jillian Goodrich

Jillian Goodrich is the Director of First Impressions with AXA Advisors, LLC and Community Financial Group.

A native to the area, Jillian grew up in Stafford County, and moved to Harrisonburg, VA in 2012 to attend James Madison University.  She graduated in 2016 from the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport, and Recreation Management with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, and a minor in business.  During her time with the Hart School, she also had the opportunity to serve as Fundraising Director for the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, an organization which promotes diversity within the industry, as well as the workplace as a whole.  She was also incredibly fortunate to be able to spend her Spring semester in 2015 studying abroad in Florence, Italy.  

Upon graduating, Jillian moved back home to Stafford and joined the CFG team in November of 2016.  She initially served as an assistant to Joshua Alloway, but expanded her role in July of 2018 to begin serving our entire team as Director of First Impressions.  She has spent the past two years learning as much as possible from the vast, unique experience that each member of Community Financial Group brings to the table!

In her free time, Jillian loves to travel, read, and spend time outdoors.  Fun fact: she’s a bit of an adrenaline junky and has been skydiving in Orange, VA, hang gliding over the sand dunes in Kitty Hawk, NC, and paragliding off the Swiss Alps during her time abroad!  She looks forward to working with you, and is thrilled to be part of a team that works hard, has fun, and most importantly, helps others reach their goals!
